Google Search begins testing dark mode

I recently stumbled upon Google Search testing a dark theme, while browsing in a Chrome incognito window. I love dark mode, but somehow this didn't feel right.

It's likely that it's going to take time for long-time Google users to digest the change. So what does it look like?

Screenshots

In the second screenshot, it's almost hard to recognize this as Google Search from a distance.

Navigating to other Google Search sections, like Videos, News, Images, and Maps, reverts the UI back to the light theme, making the experience feel awkward.

This sort of felt like having only one section of an app you are using display with dark mode, but I can't imagine it would be like that in the real rollout of the feature.

All of that being said, I'm happy with this. It will be interesting to see how Google implements this moving forward.
