How to clear your cache on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn

Sharing on social media isn't hard

But sharing the same content more than once can be difficult.

I recently launched a project, and had some trouble sharing the links because social networks like Twitter and LinkedIn had old data cached from over a year ago.

So I thought it made sense to group my resources into a post, and continue to keep it as updated as I can while I continue to launch projects.

Facebook Debugger

Facebook Debugger shows you a preview how your website appears when it's shared on Facebook in a post, but using this tool has the added benefit of clearing the cached data for that URL.

URL: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

You will need a Facebook account in order to log in and use the debugger.

Twitter Card Validator

Twitter Card validator lets you preview how your website appears when it's in a Tweet, and also clears their cached data for that URL.

URL: https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator

You will need a Twitter account in order to log in and use the validator.

LinkedIn Post Inspector

Like Facebook and Twitter, LinkedIn Post Inspector lets you preview how your website appears when it is shared on LinkedIn. Using this tool will then clear LinkedIn's cached data for that URL.

URL https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/inspect

You will need a LinkedIn account in order to log in and use the inspector.

Don't have a Facebook account?

If you don't have a Facebook or Twitter account, you can try a service like https://www.opengraph.xyz/. This won't be as reliable as testing on the live networks themselves, but it should give you a good idea about what your posts will look like when they are shared.
